In 2019, OSHA's Control of Hazardous Energy Standard was the 4th most frequently cited standard. The reason for this, is that lockout/tagout incidents account for approximately 10% of all serious workplace accidents. Workers injured during lockout/tagout operations lose an average of 24 workdays for recuperation. OSHA's Control of Hazardous Energy Standard addresses the practices and procedures necessary to disable machines or equipment, thereby preventing the release of hazardous energy while employees perform servicing and maintenance activities

OSHA's Control of Hazardous Energy Standard establishes the minimum performance requirements that employer's must follow to protect their workers from the unexpected energizing, startup or the release of stored energy.
This is an outstanding course for field-level employees, supervisors and managers.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants should:

  1. Be familiar with the purpose of OSHA's Control of Hazardous Energy Standard

  2. Understand basic lockout/tagout terminology

  4. Know & understand the purpose of an Energy Control Procedure

  5. Understand the requirements related to both lockout & tagout

Additionally, there is an option to purchase our virtual reality "Simple LOTO Simulator", an additional component of this Online Lockout/Tag-out Training Program. The simulator was developed to provide employers of any size, with the safest and most cost-effective method to verify their employee's understanding of Lockout/Tag-out principles. Including the proper use of the Energy Control Procedures, an integral part of any Lockout/Tagout Program.

In each scene, the Energy Control Procedure can be viewed on a digital screen and interacts as the user proceeds through the simulator. A check mark will appear next to each step in the corresponding "Sequence of Lockout" and "Release from Lockout" as the participant completes each task. However, our objectives manager tracks each step and ensures each step is not only completed, but that it is done in the correct sequence. Just like in a real workplace using a real Lockout/Tagout Procedure.
